Brent has played numerous sports, up to and including international level. These sports include badminton, volleyball, tennis, squash, swimming, water polo, paddle surfing, wind-surfing, white water canoeing and show-jumping. In South Africa, he was most known in badminton and volleyball. He trained as a high performance driving instructor with Kyalami Speed International in South Africa and currently instructs for Apex Driving Academy at Motor Sport Ranch in Cresson, Texas. In 2008 Brent made it into the State swimming finals in San Antonio, Texas. In the United States he is best known for soccer, as a parent, player (coached and managed the Strays indoor soccer team since 2001), coach, coach instructor, referee, referee instructor and assessor. Brent holds a D coaching license, National Youth Coaching License has been a coach instructor for North Texas since 2000. Brent coached at the select level for a number of years and established the Lions Soccer Club before turning to refereeing. Currently he holds a Grade 7 referee license, referees Premier Division indoor, adult outdoor and High School and assesses for Dallas Chamber Classic Soccer Alliance Boys League.
