Training

Training is an eight letter swear word in most organizations. Training is regarded as a cost center, rather than a profit center. When the organization finds profits are not what they should be, usually the first to go is the training department. Organizations have a "turn and burn" philosophy around their training personnel. As a board member of the Fort Worth ASTD (American Society for Training and Development) Brent hears first hand the difficulties leaders have in understanding the powerful effect that well-trained employees can have upon their profitability.

The industry move, therefore, is to "performance improvement" and the development of a certification called CPLP (Certified Performance and Learning Professional) which is slowly gaining momentum and credibility.

If you need an assessment of the value of your training department, call us and our team will conduct a comprehensive analysis for you.

Technical writing is something that brent has done on numerous projects. As he jokes, "doing a dissertation is as technical as it can get having to get through multi member committees multi times". Brent has developed help menus and written user manuals for proprietary software applications. For details call Brent 817-307-4559 or email Brent.

Instructional design is an illustration of where the training profession has built some credibility. Organizations realize the need for training and also realize that the SME's (subject matter experts) know the material, but not how to construct the training to adequately develop their personnel. Brent has built numerous programs, from sales training, to sales management training, to technical training,  to leadership development and is able to customize to each client's needs.  This is a new avenue for Brent and he has partnered with other professionals in bringing products to clients that save them the exorbitant $500k fees sought by the bigger players - who then are unable to deliver on their promises as products do not "push" or "pull" correctly and become a nightmare for integration in their organization. E-learning is the unifying term to describe the fields of online learning, web-based training, and technology-delivered instruction. Brent completed his first degree at a traditional campus, but his further degrees, courses, Masters and Doctorate have all been on a distance or eLearning basis. With the cost of oil reaching alarming heights, the cost of travel goes up with it, but in contrast, the cost of the technology behind eLearning continues to become more affordable. Whatever your traing (AKA learning and performance improvement) needs, Brent and his team can build the solution for you, including train-the-trainer presentations on how best to use the available and emerging technology. With a background in social work and business, Brent is well positioned to be a life coach. This is in the format of one on one coaching. "Our main want in life is someone to make us do what we know we can do" - Ralph Waldo Emerson. In regular meetings Brent will help set goals and the means to attain them. How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time!

Payment is either on a negotiated retainer or on a results basis. For the results basis, think in terms of the rich man who is facing certain death in a truck bearing down on him. At the last minute, a stranger comes flying across and pushes him to safety. In gratifude he turns to the stranger and says "I am a man of means, I would like to reward you for saving my life." The stranger replies "Just give me the amount that you had in mind when you thought the truck was going to kill you!"

Jokes aside, Brent has never turned anyone away for lack of the immediate ability to pay...
